This past week has been massive for Tomizone. We have officially hit more than 10,000 active Hotspots!
Recently, we also received a research report from ICT independent research company, Agitavi, reporting that we are now the largest provider in Australasia (as at this mornings count, we had around 9,500 in the region).
We’ve put together a snapshot on Google Maps here of the Hotspots (total around 10,200) so you can see where we seem to be popular.
Thanks to all the Tomizone Hotspot Owners who have activated the Wi-Fi Hotspot feature and thanks also to our many partners and alliance companies who have helped, advised, distributed, made and promoted Tomizone! We’re grateful for your support.
Voxy.co.nz - Tomizone Ranked Largest Wi-Fi Provider With 10,000 Hotspots
Tomizone, a global Wi-Fi service provider and Wi-Fi hotspot company, was independently validated today as the largest Wi-Fi hotspot provider in Australasia by research firm Agitavi Research Corporation Limited, an international company that specialises in business research in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) industry.
Tomizone is constantly adding features to the Service Platform and the latest one of interest is the release we made today of “Guest Speed Limit” - this means that if you own a Tomizone Hotspot and you offer free access to friends / guests on your friends list (soon to be changed to “guest list”), you can edit their profile on your hotspot to limit their upload and download speed.
To put limits on, login to your Tomizone account, click on “Update Friends List” (soon to be called Guest List) and “edit” the Friend / Guest you have in the list. Once saved, the limits will be in place once the Friend / Guest logs into your Tomizone Hotspot(s).
The Age - Make your spot hot and profitable
It wouldn’t cost much to set up our hot spot. Tomizone has been working with hardware vendors including D-Link, Linksys and Belkin, to provide firmware that extends the capabilities of wi-fi routers. We could walk into several retailers and pick up a Tomizone-enabled wireless router an be in business in a matter of minutes.
Auckland City Wi-Fi Goes Live
Fast, affordable broadband took a major step forward today with the launch of the Auckland City Wi-Fi service across seven key zones of the Auckland CBD and fringe.
Today we’re proud to announce that Auckland City switched on its Muni Wi-Fi network covering popular areas. This deployment is part of the Kordia network in partnership with Auckland City Council using Tomizone as the service provider to market and provide the authentication and billing services.
This is the type of business model that has already proven popular with us at Tomizone as we’ve done a similar deployment with iiNet in Australia with their partner Metromesh.
In both networks, they’ve deployed RoamAD mesh Wi-Fi solutions which easily plug into the Tomizone Service Platform. If you want more information on how Tomizone can work with a Municipal or Citywide Wi-Fi network, contact us here.
We’ve extended our very successful iPhone and iPod Touch free access to the Tomizone Wi-Fi Hotspot Network. What this means is that if you own this type of Wi-Fi gadget, you’ll get free access to our Wi-Fi Hotspots until the end of the year! And for our great existing iPhone and iPod Touch customers, we’ve also topped up your allocation after 11 October so it means you can “start again!”.
Thank you for the feedback if you’ve used the network with one of these gadgets. We really appreciate it!
We’ve just had the approval for the new version of firmware for the DIR-300 incorporating the new D-Link update. Its a great little leap forward and we’ve made activation tons easier!
We’ve had feedback over time for people who just want a “data only” type of product when using Tomizone. On September 3rd, we quietly introduced the 500 MB plan which can be used any time over 90 days from first use. This plan is especially good for Hotspot users who want to occasionally use Tomizone over time in short bursts. We believe its quite a competitive offer for high speed Internet access at a Hotspot.
